Responses of Bats to Regenerated Forest at Imbak Canyon Conservation Areas
About the research
The rapid development and land conversion exacerbated the decline of mature forest in Borneo, leading to fragmentation and habitat loss. Consequently, this allow secondary and regenerated landscape to expand. Although mature forests have been the highlight for conservation, the capacity of regenerated forests for fauna conservation should not be underestimated. Using bats as focal species, this project aims to determine the conservation value of regenerated forest for species recovery within a community and to reveal the significance of regenerated forest for conservation and a long term sink for species recovery.
