Accommodation

The on-campus accommodation is a 7-storey apartment style hostel located within the campus ground. Hence, for the residents, attending classes is simply a breeze walk across a sky-bridge. The close proximity of the hostel allows residents to leverage on all the campus facilities that are made available for their convenience. More so often, these residents are reluctant to shift out to live with the outside world.

 

Each apartment is sufficiently equipped with basic amenities; each tenant being assigned to an individual bed space and a wardrobe. There are three rooms in each apartment. These rooms can be a 4-sharing or 6-sharing setup, depending on the size of the room.
The apartment is well lit and ventilated with fans, and a spacious living room provides a comfortable venue for the occupants to mingle, socialize and carry out their study, as well as leisure activities.

 

UCSF on-campus hostel is able to accommodate approximately 400 students. The floors are divided and separated into the male and female floors. Each floor consists of 4 apartments and hostel residents are obligated to keep the place safe, clean and secured. The residents together with the hostel representatives will work closely and interactively with the hostel fellows to ensure a conducive living atmosphere.

Students from outside Kota Kinabalu and new to UCSF are given priority to stay at the hostel for at least one year. Thereafter, the tenancy will be subjected to availability. UCSF’s Accommodation Office will always endeavor to cater to the accommodation needs of its students. For those students who require assistance and support in seeking outside accommodation, they can always approach the friendly officers from the Accommodation Office to assist them.

 

Students who are given the opportunity to stay at the hostel need to abide by the rules and regulation of the hostel. UCSF is weary and for safety and security reason, students are encouraged to have with them their Student’s ID at all time for security access and check. Part of the enforceable rule is a curfew during the late night hours.

 

Despite these rules and regulation, the sociable environment, freedom and friendly residents of the hostel provide a feeling of Home-Sweet-Home to the many students who have lived in the hostel. We hope that our hostel will provide a sense of a distinctive experience for students while studying at UCSF.
