The impacts of development on the human society and environment have become vital in the study of social change. The world is now facing challenges and crisis in development issues, among others arising from globalization. While we are struggling to achieve sustainable development in line with the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), issues of resource distribution and management need to be addressed properly. In this aspect, media plays a crucial role in portraying those issues.

Students will not only be focusing economic or physical development issues but also from political, societal and environment perspectives. This multi-disciplinary approach addresses current requirements on humanity and the urgency towards solving developmental issues in a holistic manner, encompassing poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, natural resource depletion, and population explosion. The programme also includes a field-based teaching and learning experiences. Student will also have the opportunity to explore global issues, critically, logically and creatively in an integrated manner to derive practical solutions.
