NIAG In Research & Sustainability
In addition to the faculties and other ancillaries, the education environment setting at UCSF is also rather unique; there exists a gallery, the Nature Inspiration Art Gallery (NIAG). It serves to create a growth eco-environment for an interconnected, interdependent and interlinked education, thus enabling studies, research, promotion and appreciation of the arts, the long-term impacts toward its preservation and conservation as well as creating novel products for society at large.
Art As A Language For Sustainability
Arts and creativity not only capture but preserve the multi-facet activities of the indigenous people, the way they interact with environment, creating social order and manifest value and beauty of life. By doing so these bring forth the much needed regenerative energy to create human awareness. Art is also the language that engages our sensations, feelings and imaginations.
The world today needs constant awakening to stay alert to engage with the pace of development that is causing disruptions to the way we think and behave, affecting lives and most definitely our culture!
Arts has the unique ability to arrest time, by making the moment last, giving permanence to the present. It portrays the feeling and emotional attachment towards plights and aggravations, but at the same time it has the magic to heal; expressing hope for a more conscious, meaningful, healthy, balanced and harmonious life. Art also has the healing power towards peace and calming effect on people and nature.

Nature Inspiration Art Gallery (NIAG) is a gallery set up by UCSF as an extension to manifest its Green Concept and Philosophy’s vision of conserving the rich cultural identities of people in Sabah and its natural surroundings. The richly endowed environment and the dynamicity of its people interacting with it to creatively evolve their unique lifestyles need to be appreciated in the ever changing progressive world. This is where the artists play their role to creatively record and conserve this beautiful heritage so that it can invigorate rich inspirations from genuine cultural roots.
