UCSF-SSM “Awareness Programme: Choosing The Right Business Entity”
On 20th July 2022, the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) in collaboration with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) organised a seminar on ‘Awareness Programme: Choosing the Right Business Entity”.
The objective of the seminar is to provide awareness among the students about business entities in Malaysia, the products and services offered by the SSM, and the Interest Scheme Act 2016.
The half-day seminar was moderated by Dr. Amy Faizah Nain from the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME), UCSF. It was held at the Main Hall, Level 7 UCSF and attended by some 250 students from UCSF, the Sabah Institute of Arts (SIA), the Asian Tourism International College (ATIC) as well as academicians and staff from the three colleges and invited guests.
Three speakers from the SSM presented different topics in the seminar. Fariz Linus delivered his talk titled ‘I want to do business, what are the business entities in Malaysia?’. Rohaized Rouslanluddin talked about ‘The products and services offered by the SSM’. Siti Rukiah Jappar delivered her presentation on ‘Get to know the schemes under the Interest Scheme Act 2016’.
In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Junaenah Sulehan who is also the Acting Vice Chancellor of UCSF stated that the event is the first face-to-face seminar being held at UCSF since the Covid-19 pandemic. Junaenah also stated that the seminar is part of a collaborative programme organised under the strategic partnership between UCSF and SSM.
“This time, the seminar targets the students. We hope that students can learn valuable lessons about the important role of SSM.” Junaenah added that the next seminar in the pipeline between UCSF-SSM strategic partnership will focus on the leaders and top management of corporate entities.
The seminar drew constructive comments and questions from students. Also present in the seminar is Ng Ling Chee, Head of Operation Section of SSM Sabah.
